New Float Glass System Ahead Of Schedule

Pilkington and Glaverbel have started their new Spanish float glass plant ahead of schedule at Sagunto, near Valencia. The plant, financed by Glaverbel, was built by Pilkington in 16 months, using the company's float glass technology. Under an agreement between the two companies, production will be shared, with 60% going to Glaverbel and 40% to Pilkington. In return, Pilkington has also undertaken to supply Glaverbel with equivalent quantities in the north of Europe, where Glaverbel has no float plant. The Sagunto plant, which has a sales capacity of around 150,000/tpy, is located alongside Pilkington's automotive glass fabricating operation. In addition to supplying this plant, it will also provide Glaverbel's Pedragosa network of 20 processing and distribution units with products for the Spanish building industry. (whole item)
