New Float Glass Plant Receives Major Investment

Pakistan's longest running flat glass maker, Khwaja Flat Glass Industries (Pvt) Ltd, has been awarded with Rupees 488.07m (US$11m) of funding for the construction of a float glass facility at a new greenfield site at Fatehjang, in Attock District. Al Faysal Investment Bank has organised the funding, sourcing financing from a consortium of 13 other financial institutions. The award will go some way to paying for the total investment in the plant, which will amount to somewhere in the region of Rupees 1,300m (US$30m) The plant will have a capacity of 69,350 tpa of float glass, a dramatic increase on the 25,000 tpa of glass at the Khwaja currently produces from its plant at Hassan Abdal - a plant that has been in operation since 1967. Once completed, the factory will be the first in the country to have float glass technology.
