Brand owners can now add differentiation to the metal closures used to top off their beverage products. Several external novel finishes and a special ink that allows printing on the cap's interior are available from Crown Holdings Inc. Crown's new finishes include a matte, metallic sparkle and a special colour-changing lacquer that instantly changes with a simple turn of the package. The finishes can withstand pasteurised and, in some cases, sterilised filling processes, while ensuring the caps have the right look to complement the contents of the pack. The new material systems are flexible enough to with stand the forming process during cap manufacturing and tough enough to avoid damage during transport, cap application, processing and handling.
