New Cpiv Vice-President

David Workman, DG of the British Glass Manufacturers' Confederation, has been elected Vice-President of CPIV, the Standing Committee of the EU Glass Industries in Brussels. CPIV is the organisation that represents the interests of European Union glassmakers at the European Commission and the European Parliament and deals with all cross-sector industry issues. "The EU glass industry is undergoing much change with intense competitive and legislative pressures," Mr Workman says. "Significant progress has been achieved in recent years for the glass industry through improved partnerships working with the EU Commission and EU Ministers to produce cohesive legislation. Most of the UK's legislation impacting glass manufacturers is driven from Brussels. It is increasingly important that we have a strong voice within this influential representative body."
