Turkish glassmaker Sisecam will build a EUR 45M factory in Macedonia, the Macedonian government said 13 March 2009. The factory will be located in the free economic zone Bunardzik, near Skopje & construction should begin 2010, Macedonian PM Nikola Gruevski said in a statement after he signed a memorandum of cooperation on the project with Sisecam's CEO Ahmet Kirman & the company's president Dogan Arikan. The value of annual output is expected to be EUR 45M. The factory will initially employ 300 workers. "The factory will produce bottles for beer & soft drinks. Half of production will be intended for export", the statement quoted Mr. Kirman as saying. Turkish Sisecam says it is the fourth largest glass producer in the world. In south-east Europe, the company has operations in Bulgaria & is present in Bosnia & Herzegovina through its soda producer Soda Sanayi.
