New Application For Byproducts

Thermacell has petented a number of new uses for the glassy byproducts from its glass microsphere manufacturing operations. As part of the production process of the evacuated microspheres, the company also makes fused clusters of microspheres. These clusters are covered in capillary-like vents and were originally launched as a product under the name Aroma Rocks. The initial application, absorbing fragrance oils and releasing them over long periods has now been added to with a number of filtration applications. The latest patents cover the use of the renamed "Essential Stones" as filters for water (binding excess salts) filters for gases (removing pollutants) for liquid/gas separation and water/oil separation and as sound abatement insulation around engines.
