The announcement of a new glass furnace to almost double bottle production at the Moerdijk plant of Ardagh Glass in the Netherlands was made today (October 28) at a joint ceremony between Ardagh Glass and world leading brewer Heineken. The event also recognised 10 years of quality bottle production dedicated to Heineken at the plant. This 45m Euro strategic project forms part of Ardagh's 3-year investment plan across the group which is focusing on optimising its manufacturing footprint, whilst maintaining production capacity. The move will increase bottle output close to Heineken's production facility in the Netherlands and reduce transport movements. The new furnace, which will go in to full production in 2009, has the latest state of the art oxy-fuel fired technology, significantly reducing emissions in compliance with future European legislation.
