Mintel Product Of The Month: Steck Feinkost Medium Spicy Mustard

While reusable glass packaging isn't a new concept, especially as a drink container/vessel, it is unusual to see the concept in the mustard market. In Germany, Steck Feinkost released a medium spicy mustard available in a 125-mL imitation hock wine glass package, made from coloured glass (for the stem and foot) and plain glass (for the bowl part). A push-on lid, moulded in PP, acts as a closure and is printed flexo. This spicy mustard is from the Black Forest region, and it retails in a glass with panda graphics. The company also offers Steck Mittelscharfer Senf Würzig in Romerglas, which is a mustard from the Black Forest region, also available in a wine glass. Mintel researchers see the reusable aspect of the packaging appealing to increasingly more eco-friendly, waste-averse and cash-strapped consumers.
