Millercoors Said That Beer Sales In The Us Hold Up Well Compared To Wine And Spirits

US Brewer, MillerCoors said that it sees growth in beer sales to slow to 0.6% between 2009 and 2012 and anticipates growth in spirits sales to slow to 1.1% (down from 2.7%) between 2004-2008. At a seminar in London, the company's CEO Tom Long said that Miller Lite, Coors Light and Miller Genuine Draft 64 saw market share grow by 1% in the last 9m and Blue Motion beer became the leading craft beer in the US market. MillerCoors economy brands benefited from consumers shifting to cheaper brands. The firm said it has a 30% share of the beer market in the USA and stressed that anticipated savings of $500M in the third year of its joint venture.
