Midland Industrial Glass

A Smethwick firm with a turnover of £4M, specialising in the manufacture of glass components is changing hands, after a management buyout. M Joseph, former owner of Midland Industrial Glass, wanted to provide stability & continuity for this well-established firm & its employees, & saw a MBO as the best way forward. Alan Taylor, Glenn Bicknell & Tony Gardner, were all involved with the firm at senior level for a number of years, & knew of its potential. They accepted the buyout challenge & having moved into new purpose-built premises a year earlier, sought investment from Birmingham venture capital specialist Midven to help fund an expansion programme, committing £250,000. With additional investment of £600,000, they have not only maintained production, but grown, making TV stands & shop fitting equipment, as well as specialising in precision glass engineering.
