Vitro Group have reported that the company will provide Central General with specially designed packaging for purified water under the Alivia brand. Northern area packaging sales representative Marco Leal, said glass provides several advantages such as not affecting the flavour of the contents. Vitro reported recently in a statement to the Mexican stock exchange that it would reduce Grupo Modelo packaging orders at the end of 2008 due to the ongoing contraction in global markets. Grupo Modelo is one of Vitro's key customers, but the brewer recently informed Vitro that due to the current market downturn, it has reduced its requirements for beer bottles. At the end of Q3 in 2008, Vitro reported sales of glass containers rose 19% year-on-year, while sales of flat glass fell 1.4% over the same period.
