Commission Directive 05/4/EC of 19 January 2005 amending Directive 2001/22/EC laying down the sampling methods and the methods of analysis for the official control of the levels of lead, cadmium, mercury and 3-MCPD in foodstuffs, was published in the Official Journal of the EU, 21/01/2005, L19/50. The Directive updates existing methods, in particular to take into account the measurement uncertainty for analysis. This will ensure that analytical results are reported and interpreted in a uniform way and help to underpin a harmonised enforcement approach across the European Union. Detailed annexes update guidance for control laboratories on compliance of a lot or sub-lot with the specification and amend the performance criteria and advice on estimating analytical trueness, calculating recoveries and reporting results.
