Melting Knowledge Up For Grabs

The 13th conference on electric and other highly efficient ways of glass melting is to be held at Plzen in the Czech Republic on Sept 6-8, 2004. Topics will include reactions in the bath layer in the all-electric tank; increasing the efficiency of all-electric furnaces; currents of glass in an all-electric tank; electric boosting; the influence of direct current (DC) on corrosion, origin of bubbles, striae, possibilities of passivation of electrodes and refractories; application of high frequency field to heat glass; induction furnaces; arc furnaces; refractory and electrode material; control of run; and environmental aspects.
