Superglass, one of the UK's few manufacturers of glass mineral fibre insulation products, is floating on the Stock Exchange with an expected market capitalisation of £105m. The Sterling-based company was sold by its previous owner Encon to NGBI Private Equity & the company's managers for £38.3m in 2005. Superglass makes & distributes glass wool products for cavity wall & loft insulation. The UK market has grown strongly since 2002, driven by a combination of government initiatives to reduce CO2 emissions by encouraging domestic insulation & drives to conserve energy, enforced by changes to building regulations. "NGBI was in the right place at the right time," said John Smellie, Superglass MD. "I suppose you could say that included me." He said the company had invested £4.6m in production capacity in the past 4y. Superglass is one of only 3 such manufacturers in the UK.
