Loadhog Wins Award For Invention

Sheffield-based Loadhog has been presented with the Queen's Award for Innovation for its Smartstak invention, which is winning major orders from as far afield as Australia. Smartstak, is designed for transporting stacks of glass bottles & comprises layers of Smartpads, plastic pads with shaped edges that stop the bottles between them being dislodged in transit. Loadhog's Smartpads have specially shaped edges, which prevent bottles on the edge of a stack coming loose in transit, causing the stack to collapse. According to Loadhog, more than one in a hundred tall bottle stacks collapse while they are being transported. Each stack is worth up to £300 & the cost of a collapse is made higher by the need to quarantine the trailer, clean it out & dispose of the broken glass.
