Licotec - Grant To Test New Liquid Fibreglass

A grant from New South Wales state government in Australia will help Licotec Pty Ltd, based in Cooranbong, to trial a new liquid fibreglass. The new product could cut pollution, waste and energy use across the fibreglass manufacturing sector. Licotec has developed a new technology that dispenses with staged processes by dissolving the glass fibres in resin. The liquid fibreglass is then sprayed into moulds for products like swimming pools, completely eliminating off-cuts and waste. Furthermore, it is hoped the new mix will set five times faster than traditional fibreglass, reducing the levels of styrene released into the area while drying. Licotec will use the $62,000 grant to test the technology in two of New South Wales' largest swimming pool manufacturing companies. The liquid has the potential to cut air emissions by 30% & energy use by 40%.
