Laser Power Used To Mark Or Code Glass Bottles

MSC has introduced a hot end laser engraving system to mark a code, either data matrix or alphanumeric, on each glass container. Decoding can be automatic, or can be done manually through a hand-held decoder, allowing traceability throughout the life of each container. The system is positioned on the high speed conveyor between the IS forming machine & the annealing lehr. Thanks to a simple connection with the IS machine & automatic synchronisation, the laser engraves the necessary information onto each container. This can include company code; plant code; line code; time date & section, & cavity numbers. The code is compact, precise & is marked on the surface of the glass. The system promises high quality marking of glass without causing cracks or checks. One main advantage is that the encoded marking is redundant, secure & resistant.
