German-based Horn, produces Optibeam; a precise, laser glass control system. The company says it is precise, and features a friction-free process. Since all working parts are outside the furnace channel, mechanical wear and tear is minimized. Maintenance can be carried out from the outside without interrupting the working process. Horn points out that Optibeam works consistently in all climatic regions, including the Tropics. The Optibeam probes the surface of the glass with a laser beam that registers even the most minute of fluctuations. Data regarding any changes is passed along to a micro processing unit and is displayed visually.
