Laser For Analysis And Characterization Of Materials

A laser source coupled to a roper spectroscopic system can provide a powerful tool for chemical analysis and material characterisation. The use of an Inductive Coupled Plasma (ICP) together with a spectrometric apparatus has become a routine mean to analyse chemical elements present in liquid or bulk samples. Laser ablation allows to extend the analytical capabilities of ICP spectrometry also to solid samples in which a precise correlation between spatial localisation and chemical composition.
