Self-adhesive label manufacturers are feeling the heat. Raw material prices are at an all-time high and, until recently, demand for labels had hit a downward trajectory. Indeed, the administration in April of the UK's oldest label printer, Sessions of York, was directly blamed on rising paper prices. After a global recession, an earthquake in Chile and strikes at mills In Scandinavia, paper prices have spiralled to an all-time high. In this article the author asks how the label sector is coping and where it goes from here.
