It was reported in the news that Diageo is to spend US$115m on a new distillery in Kentucky to capitalise on American whiskey's surging popularity. The company is proposing to build a 1.8m proof gallon distillery and 6 barrel storage warehouses in Shelby County. Diageo said it expects to break ground on the 300-acre site in the coming months with an aim to having the distillery operational by late 2016.
