Asia Glass has begun construction on an innovative glass plant in the southern Kazakh city Taraz, the company's director said. The company agreed to invest in Taraz during an investment forum int he southern city held in September 2012. "We are pleased to report that we made one constructive step for the benefit of the economy of the country and its people," Elena Pevneva, Director of Asia Glass told the Kazinform news agency. "The production activities of the new plant will solve a number of pressing problems, such as economic, social and industrial and will create 600 jobs. The plant is expected to produce around 370M glass containers per annum. Capacity is expected to meet around 24% of demand for high-quality glass packaging that meets all the standards of international quality." said Pevneva. Construction is expected to take around 18 months while production is anticipated to begin in Q1, 2015.
