Italy's SIGMA Group is to double production capacity at its Bulgarian refractories plant in early 2016. This follows the recent completion of significant investments at the Italian factory, involving a doubling of the pre-assembly area, a specially built 5000 sq/m storage area and the installation of a vibrocasting unit for special shapes up to 1800kg. The group reports additional business and major contracts in several countries, including the USA, S America, China, France, Poland and Germany, in addition to a steady increase of turnover with existing customers worldwide. The R&D team has created a series of innovations, including two zirconium-based products for the furnace bottom according to cullet percentage and a special mullite grade for regenerator chambers of highly stressed furnace installations.
