Four Italian glass container manufacturers were fined L38bn. According to the Italian Antitrust they were responsible for exchanging information and adjusting contractual conditions that resulted in the formation of a cartel able to influence, at national level, the price of glass containers - a measure which damaged both the beverage and food packaging industry, as well as consumers. The four industries together represented 95% of the market share. Sanctions were equivalent to L19.22bn for AVIR; L12.4bn Vetr.I; L3.33bn Rocco Bormioli and L3.09bn Zignago Vetro. The fined industries appealed against the sentence. (whole item)
