A new glass recycling plant is operating in the Western Isles of Scotland, following a £60,000 investment by the local authority on the Isle of Lewis. The plant uses a Glass Aggregate Systems breaking and grinding system and a Kason Corporation classifying system supplied through Technical Engineering Services of Carlisle, and has a nominal capacity of 2 tonnes/hour. Its output is currently used mainly in decorative glass for landscaping but also for road aggregate and for protection of concrete walls on houses. Test marketing is underway to try to sell products into the shot blasting and water filtration markets. All these markets offer good prices for recycled glass. (whole item)
