Iraq Glassmaker Restarts

Ramadi Glass Works, in Iraq's Al Anbar province, is coming back to life after being closed last November following attacks by insurgents. Management has been working with US armed forces to reopen the plant, which also produces ceramics. The factory used to employ 2300 people producing flat and container glass, and ceramics. Full employment levels are expected to be reached shortly, and security guards have been trained to help protect the plant and its staff. Demand for glass has soared in Iraq, mainly because of the need to replace architectural glass damaged or destroyed in the continuing conflict.
