Investment In High Quality Soda Ash

Brunner Mond has announced a £3M investment in its Cheshire soda ash production facility. The company is installing a Foundation Fieldbus control system to automate the 23 cast iron towers that are used for carbonating ammoniated brine to form sodium bicarbonate crystals. The investment is part of a £6.5M upgrade of key control systems at the Lostock plant. The Brunner Mond Group is one of the five largest producers of soda ash in the world and has two manufacturing plants in the UK and one in the Netherlands.
