Investing In Extra Capacity

DSF's new Bricesco high temperature kiln is now operational with commissioning having started in June this year. The £850,000 investment will increase capacity and reduce gas usage and CO2 emissions per tonne of refractory fired. This is now DSF's largest high temperature kiln, capable of firing 40 tonnes of mullite brick per load to 1500 deg C, with two-and-a-half firings possible on a standard cycle, potentially giving 100/t fired refractory per week. The kiln has a ceramic fibre lining, pulse firing burners and a heat recovery system that provides consistent temperature across the whole of the kiln and maximum fuel efficiency.
