Pharmaceutical glass syringes have to satisfy increasingly high quality requirements. In practice, the benchmarks for dimensional precision and cosmetic defects are below the customary Acceptable Quality Limits (AQL). To guarantee this level of quality, a range of prerequisites have to be met. The quality demands for pharmaceutical glass syringes are high; quality levels for critical defects approach or even come below ppm rates. In practice, these standards are achieved with a combination of visual and camera-based inspection technologies, as described in this article.
