Innovation Shifting Into High Gear

Global sales of electronic vehicles (EVs) more than doubled in 2012 when, compared to 2011 levels, shooting up from 45,000 to nearly 114,000 units. Figures for 2013 confirm this trend: more than 18% of car sales in Europe last year were hybrids, with already some 13 different models available to the market. Not surprisingly, the outlook for EVs is regarded as highly promising and output is expected to reach 20M by 2020. The highway that is automotive recycling is hardly a lonely one. The industry's history is paved with technological breakthroughs and legislative developments - and this is not about to change any time soon, it was agreed at the 14th International Automobile Recycling Congress (IARC) in Brussels. Most notably, e-mobility is now moving into the fast lane.
