Indonesian Float Producers Report Strong Results

Two of Indonesia's float glass manufacturers have reported impresive 1995 results. Sales at Asahimas Flat Glass rose 39% to 403.6bn rupiah, while net income jumped 65% to 73.7bn rupiah. Mulia Industrindo recorded 1995 sales of 327.5bn rupiah (a 39.5% increase) while net income strengthened by 82.2% to 67.5bn rupiah. Asahimas is a joint venture between Japan's Asahi Glass and the Rodamas group of Indonesia. Production capacity currently stands at 420,000 tonnes/year from three furnaces in Jakarta and Surabaya. A fourth line is due for completion in Surabaya in 1997 raising capacity to 570,000 tonnes.
