United Spirits Ltd (USL) is reportedly set to focus primarily on Asian and African market sand is seeking joint ventures and franchisees for this through its newly formed Emerging Markets Division. According to reports, 20% revenue of the company is expected from beyond India in the next 3 years. It is specifically looking at Nigeria and Angola in Africa, and is also selecting two markets to attack in Asia during the current fiscal year. The company would look at both manufacturing and distribution. The company also intends to set up a glass manufacturing plant at Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, at an investment of Rs 3500M. Vijay Mallya, chairman of UB Group was quoted as saying: "As we set aggressive growth targets, we have to look at our back-end and logistics, and we have started investing in primary distillation and multi sub-station plants, and also have a project to set up our own glass bottling plant. The company would manufacture around 600/tpd. This will be India's single largest glass bottle manufacturing facility. Considering it is one of the most important parts of the supply chain, it will give us strategic control of core areas of business."
