[India] Raw Material Policy Urged

West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee is urging Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to immediately formulate a clear cut national policy for minerals for its distribution across the country. "Some neighbouring states have been refusing to supply iron ore to us for a steel factory in the state despite several rounds of talks." Mr Bhattacharjee said while laying the foundation stone for expansion of Vesuvius India's factory. "If the states having coal reserves cannot have total control over coal, how can some states have complete control over iron ore?" he asked and said he had to meet the Prime Minister to explain the situation becuase, despite efforts, no progress could be made over supply of iron for steel plants in the state.
