[India] Going Green - Recycling And Cullet In Indian Container Glass

India's economic boom has led to increasing demand for glass container use prompting manufacturers to expand production and modernise their plant. Consumption of alcohol, soft drinks, food and pharmaceuticals is increasing with rising incomes and levels of prosperity. However, container glass collection and recycling and cullet use is lagging behind the modernisation and expansion of production and is also far behind that of Western countries. Recycling laws and regulations are similarly outdated and undeveloped as is consumer awareness and environmental concerns among both the public and industry. Nevertheless, there are signs that these trends are catching up in India, as this article explains.
