The Society of Glass Technology is to host both the International Commission on Glass (ICG) annual and the European Society of Glass (ESG) biennial meetings jointly with its annual meeting in Sunderland in September 2006. The conference will weave together the threads of science, art and technology, covering key themes such as novel materials and fabrication routes, structure and properties, the environment, fuel usage, modelling and glass applications, as well as history and heritage. Keynote speakers will introduce parallel sessions in each area, with some sessions combined. Practical hot glass sessions will be available. New workers are encouraged to present their latest results as part of the main conference, with prizes for the best presentations. The conference will be held at the University of Sunderland, 10-14 Sept. For more information please see: www.socieityofglasstechnology.org.uk
