The HSE recently announced it would run a £20M pilot scheme to give free health and safety advice to small and medium-sized enterprises. Workplace Health Direct is part of the Department for Work & Pensions' five-year strategy for getting people off benefits and back into work. The HSE held information events in March to raise awareness of the initiative and is liaising with the organisations that will deliver up to six regional pilots. The HSE will select the pilots in the summer, with the service beginning early 2006. Details are available from: www.hse.gov.uk/workplacehealth/.
