Hollow Glass Measuring Devices

Based in France, MSC presents two additions to its line of glass measurement devices: the AMEV, a portable glass thickness measuring device and the Profiler, an internal bore profile analyser. According to MSC, the AMEV allows instantaneous measurement of the sidewall thickness of bottles and jars. It can be used with stiffened bottles at the hot end, informing the operator of the glass thickness, even before the annealing lehr. It consists of a plate holding two rollers as a cradle for the bottle to be measured and a pivoting bracket holding the probe. The operator puts the bottle between the AMEV rolls and lets the probe touch the sidewall in order to see the bottle thickness. A 19-inch electronic rack displays a gauge graduated in millimeters on its front panel.
