Green Glass Battles Climate Change

Businessman Glenn Slade is helping to fight climate change with a company that turns used bottles into tumblers & wine glasses. Mr. Slade came across the idea behind Green Glass (in Wadebridge) when he was on honeymoon in Botswana.6 years ago. On his return, Mr Slade decided to replicate the idea & Green Glass was born. It now employs 10 people & has an annual turnover in 6-figs. He said: "We turn recycled bottles into tumblers, wine glasses & beer goblets by turning the bottom half of the bottle into a tumbler & the top half into the stem of the glass. There's no melting down so it's a very low carbon product. We filter & re-use all our water in the factory, & use recycled material wherever possible in our packaging". Green Glass also makes a range of jewellery & sells across Cornwall & the UK. Prroducts are sold at the Eden Project & the National History Museum in London. Mr Slade said: "We wanted to run a truly green business and create a high value product, with minimal impact".
