BMW i8 will be the first car ever to feature the much-hyped Gorilla Glass, a must-have for smartphones and tablets. According to Autoweek, this type of glass will be used for the car rear window, and perhaps also for the windshield and side windows. The extraordinary strength and light weight of this type of glass will help BMW to achieve another objective - soundproofing. The Gorilla Glass for the German car maker will feature a sound deadening interlayer sandwiched between two laminated 0.7 mm glass layers.
