Glavunion - Coloured Glass Production Starts

The Czech Republic glassmaker, Glavunion, a subsidiary of Belgium's Glaverbel, began production of its first coloured flat glass in February this year. Company spokesman Martin Kubat described it as a historic step in flat glass production int he region. Previously coloured float glass had to be imported here, he added. The glass will be made in three colours, green, grey and bronze. The new production is the result of the Kc1.8bn reconstruction of the no. 1 float line, which ended last september. The reconstruction also increased daily capacity from 320 to 600 tonnes and has improved the quality of the glass.
