Glaverbel First Quarter In Line With Forecast

Against the background of a slow-down in the economy, the Glaverbel Group's 2002 first quarter results are in line with its forecast of a slight decrease when compared to the same quarter in 2001. Non-audited figures show consolidate sales in the three month period were Euro 468.5m (Euro 453.8m). This represents an increase of 3% (but a decrease of 3% when compared to the same consolidation scope) mainly thanks to the contribution by the Bar Glassworks in Russia. First quarter operating income amounted to Euro 55.9m (Euro 60.6m), a decrease of 8% (or 14% for the same consolidation scope). The net income (Group's share) was Euro 32.3m, down 11% over 2001.
