Glaverbel And Recticel Joint Venture

Belgian glassmaker Glaverbel SA and plastics group Recticel SA expect a Czech joint venture to post sales of BFr235m this year, following the opening of a new car window plant. In a recent statement, the companies said they invested BFr115m in the Splirec-C joint venture and expect sales of 2.5m car windows/year. Company officials inaugurated the new plant in Bilina, Czech Republic, near an existing Splirec-C plant. The companies expect to boost the number of employees at Splirec-C to 350 from 250. Glaverbel's automotive glass unit, Splintex Czech, will supply glass to the plant. Splirec-C will then fit that glass with a polyurethane strip around the edge.
