Glaswerk Ernstthal Increases Investment In Specialist Glassmaking

A Euros 35M investment in a new furnace and production lines signals the German company's intentions to increase capacity. The new facility means that this is the only glass factory in Germany that has invested in additional capacity and taken on extra staff recently. Glaswerk Ernstthal now makes specialist glass bottles, often taking on small jobs which other, less flexible glassworks are not able to handle. They mainly produce container bottles for alcohol, but also make a small number of chemical and cosmetic containers. Customers include Jack Daniels, Bacardi, Bols, Absolut and Asbach in containers of very different sizes, from 15ml bottles to 5 litre specialist chemical containers, including 3 litre champagne bottles that weigh 2.7kg.
