Glass In Uk Materials Initiative

A joint industry and Government forum has been set up in the UK to identify the challenges and opportunities facing the materials industry over the next 10-20 years. The group will look at future technology needs; skills; infrastructure; best practice; and international benchmarking. Glass manufacturers will have a voice in the forum through Pilkington, which has a representative on the group. Other companies represented include Alcan, whose Canadian parent group owns the laboratory and scientific glassmaker Wheaton Science.
