Glass Thickness Measurement

VMA, based in Germany, specialises in the design and production of opto-electronic measuring and testing equipment for the glass industry, both hollow and flat. Container wall thickness is measured using sensors, for on-line control, not only for found glass containers but also for critical potions. Resulting measurements, says the firm, can be used for sorting and also for process control. The MTA module also gives a number related evaluation form. For float glass, the glass thickness sensor works with lasers to determine the exact glass thickness from the distance of the beams reflected onto eh surfaces. According to VMA, precision can be increased to 0.1um for display glass. Furthermore, the gauges are calibrated only once by the manufacturer, and do do not need further regular comparison.
