Glass Strength Research Proposals Invited

The Usable Glass Strength Coalition (UGSC) is seeking research proposals focused on gaining a deeper understanding of the relationship between surface structure, surface chemistry and the strength of glass. Specifically, the UGSC is seeking proposals to answer the fundamental question: Where and how do flaws nucleate in glass? Proposals will be considered to support graduate level research and investment will be commensurate with project scope but is anticipated to be in the range of US $60,000-110,000/pa. The deadline for receipt of proposals is 1 March 2016. Technical questions can be addressed to UGSG Technical Director, Dr Alastair N Cormack by email: cormack@alfred.edu
