Emhart Glass is investing 15M Euros in a new research facility in the USA in a bid to develop & market enhanced methods for improving the glass forming process. The Emhart Glass Research Centre will house laboratories & offices for 60 employees & a complete pilot production line with a furnace for 40 metric/tpd. The facility will be equipped with Emhart machines & equipment. The centre will be built in Windsor, CN, & is scheduled to open mid-2007. Emhart hopes that it will provide the framework for improving the stability, quality & efficiency of the glass forming process, while developing methods to reduce glass container manufacturing costs & accelerating the pace of new developments. One of the first projects will be to develop a process for tempering glass containers, with the first pilot plant for making these coming onstream when the facility opens.
