The Wales Environments Trust has launched the Glass Partnership, a glass recycling initiative that aims to transform waste glass into a valuable resource and bring benefits to the environment and the economy. The beneficiaries will be private, public and voluntary sector organisations in Wales. The scheme has been launched in south east Wales and, if successful, may be replicated elsewhere. The Wales Environment Trust is leading the development of alternative markets for recyclable materials. The Glass Partnership is part of the Trust's larger CWMRE market development programme. CWMRE seeks to engage private sectors partners in developing new recycling processes and recycled products. Formal agreements are now being prepared that should establish a fully operational plant using recycled glass in concrete products by this spring.
