Glass In Pakistan

Since its inception, just 3 decades ago, the glass manufacturing industry in Pakistan has steadily developed and grown to the stage that today there are about 12 automatic plants manufacturing a wide variety of glass types such as containers, tableware, vials and ampoules, sheet glass and other products. The industry now provides job opportunities to thousands of people, directly and indirectly. It is not only saving millions of dollars of foreign exchange by substituting locally manufactured goods for more expensive imported glass products but is also generating considerable foreign exchange from exports. In fact, it is contributing millions of Rupees to the national exchequer every year in the form of various taxes and levies. In a further boost to the local economic climate, the industry proudly claims that over 90% of the raw materials are derived locally.
