Glass Group Verlipack Goes Into Liquidation

After the Mol plant (Belgium, 280 workers) was put into liquidation on 11th Jan, the Verlipak group's plants at Ghlin (290 employees) and Jumet (140 employees) met with the same fate on 18th Jan. The Mons commercial court also declared four other companies in the group insolvent: Imcour Lease, Verlipack Belgium, Verlimo and Verlipack Engineering. With the liquidators' agreement, the furnaces are continuing to operate, enabling orders to be met and the production facilities to be maintained in good working order in the hope that potential rescuers will emerge. It should be noted that the Walloon Region has an 18% stake in Verlipack, while German group Heye is the majority shareholder and the Belgian group Beaulieu also has a shareholding. Verlipack's annual production capacity is 340,000 tonnes (80,000 at Jumet, 130,000 at Ghlin & 130,000 at Mol).
